The first week of April and we spent an afternoon in shorts and flip flops walking around the Atlanta Botanical Gardens. Now that we are in our coats and barely out of our winter boots again, it’s like a dream I look back on Waaaa…
Soon Hamburg, soon.
I loved the gardens and look forward to more time in them next trip. It was only our second day and we were still a bit tired. The gardens were also followed by a morning visiting the Picasso to Warhol exhibit at the High Museum. I loved this outdoor installation despite not being able to walk up to it and touch it.
We were in the Gardens by 1pm and strolled around with most of our time in the orchid house.
A few photos of blown glass work at the Botanical gardens. Outdoors…
Hanging Indoors…
Expressive Copper Frog Sculpture…
And Orchids… was thinking of you Sherry @ Spinning Pixels She has a great rundown on these beauties.

Wish I were more poetic about now…
Your beauty, your individuality, evoke serenity and grace…
Really. That’s all I’ve got…

Stunning photos, Wendy …. orchids is my favorite flower .. and it’s very pleasant object to work with. Wonderful done. My favorite is the frog on the bench. The fruit on top too. Of the orchids it’s the deep purple with the massive amount of flowers. I love go visit botanical gardens and aquariums.

Thanks Viveka. I really need to check out what we have here in Hamburg. I love botanical gardens too. Shortly, I’m going to traipse around the neighborhood and photograph magnolia trees.

Magnolia … beautiful – my grandma had a massive tree … also spent a couple of springs in Boston – the streets were lined with blooming magnolia – what a view. They are nearly blooming over here too.

ok, now seriously wendy– My toddler and I are going there today(!) after he wakes up from naptime (season pass) they have a children’s garden he likes to run around in… crazy what a small world it is. Glad you went there, it’s one of my favorite places. PS. I loved botanical gardens in hamburg, I think near the university…

How were they? I was checking out all the events happening there. Chef series, concerts, exhibitions…. great stuff. As I said- I need to find the gardens here. There is a small one near Klein Flotbek, about 20 min west of downtown but haven’t seen any big ones yet.

the bahnhof stop I think is Dammtor ( it was near the uni when I walked everyday when I learned german for a semester there) I think the one I went to was called Planten und Blumen. You could walk through it from Dammtor and get to stephansplatz in the city center, IIRC http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alter_Botanischer_Garten_Hamburg. I don’t think I’ve been to the Klein Flotbek. planten and Blumen is really nice to amble around or hang out in and then go in to the city. Unfortunately Atl bot. gardens closed early yesterday for a private event so we went to piedmont park instead, toddlers don’t care… 🙂

Duh… hello…wendy.
I’ve been there. We went ice skating and I took classes at Colon downtown, got off at Dammtor for 3 months.
Thanks for the reminder!! I have never actually been there in warm weather though and it never clicked.
We’ll check it out next month.

I journeyed there the year that the Chihuly exhibit was installed and enjoyed it immensely. Glad to see that a few pieces remain. Those blown glass pieces intermixed with the lovely foliage and flowers, stunning!

This was a place I could go back to on my own and just stop, go, take pictures, reflect. It’s a place to take in at one’s own speed.
